ABOUT THE COIN:
A BI Tetradrachm is a coin minted in Antioch, Syria, Seleucis and Pieria, and Antiochia ad Orentem. The coin is made of billon and features a portrait of a Roman emperor on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse
Gordian III ruled from 238-244 AD, starting at the age of 13. He became the youngest ever sole Roman emperor. Very little is known of his early life before his acclamation. Gordian accompanied Timesitheus on a campaign against the Persians. After successes in battle, the prefect died of an illness in 243 and was replaced by Philip 1.
