First Peachey Edition of Hans Christian Andersen's collection of timeless fairy tales. Over 100 illustrations throughout this beautiful, fine binding, early printing of Danish Fairy Legends and Tales by Hans Christian Andersen. The illustrations are in the style of Art Nouveau / Pre-Raphaelite / Fairy Tale / Myth and Legend. Translated by Caroline Peachey, this third edition was published by Bell and Daldy, London, 1870.
Green leather with gilt decorations and lettering. Book in Very Good+ condition, especially for the age. Covers and spine a little rubbed, interior is complete, minimal foxing, pages are clean and unmarked, binding and hinges are in great shape. Old bookstore pricing on back of first free endpaper, beautifully written short inscription to previous owner, no other previous owner markings. Please see photos.
